even though the dropdown menu is restricted to the wave RAM size, and even pressing enter on invalid values clears the text, the N163 instrument can set the wave pointer out of bounds by simply typing a large value and not pressing enter.
the wave position gets saved as 0xF0 - wave size. this is saved when you exit the dialog.
